Braves grab an early lead on the way to winning the Minor League championship.
In the Championship game, the Dodgers jumped ahead in the top of the first inning, scoring one run on a two out double by Owen Rakai. But, the Braves grabbed the lead by scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the first, highlighted by a bases clearing hit to right field by Noah Bahar. The Braves then added 5 runs in the bottom of the second, extending their lead to 9-1 lead. While the Dodgers added a run in the 4th inning, the Braves pitchers held them in check for most of the game, allowing only 2 runs. Neelan Sharma started for the Braves, allowing one run in three innings and striking out 7. He was followed by Jehyun Moon, who allowed one run in two innings. The quick start, coupled with the strong pitching, helped the Braves secure the Minor League Championship.
3rd Place Consolation Game:
Yankees continue their late season push with an impressive win over the Royals.
The Yankees continued their impressive run to end the season, capturing third place with a 21-2 win over the Royals. The Yankees jumped out to a quick lead, scoring 2 runs in the first and 6 in the second. The Royals runs came in the 4th inning, on 2 run double by Devran Efe. Unfortunately, it was not enough to match the Yankees, who had 20 hits, highlighted by Cludio Gomez’s 3 hits (including 2 doubles) and 6 RBI. The Yankees pitching was led by Diego Ghosh, who did not allow any runs in 2 innings of work. In keeping with the team effort, 4 Yankees pitchers shut down the Royals offense, allowing only 4 hits while recording 11 strikeouts.
Subway Player of the Week: Claudio Gomes (Yankees)
In the third place game, Claudio had three hits, including 2 doubles and 6 RBI. Claudio also pitched one inning, striking out two and also played flawlessly at shortstop.
